  1. RT @postwait: Just added AMQP support to PostgreSQL so you can publish in a transaction (e.g. a trigger). Still needs some polish, but ...
  2. I assume roads haven't yet gotten better in the Philly area? #show
  3. For anyone wondering (and not following @grokthis) all data has been recovered, services have been restored!
  4. #DearSnow if you're gonna trap me in some god-forsake place such as Scranton, PA at least pay for my hotel.
  5. Hoping I can get out of Scranton (and back to Philly) before I'm snowed in...
  6. @randybias Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know as we get further along. Right now, mirroring all data before it gets corrupted further
  7. Worst day in memory. We (@grokthis) are encountering something very similar to Joyent's failure of 2 years ago. #whenzfsdoesntwork
  8. @hightechdad just give it away at random, much safer, easier, and probably a bit more fair.
  9. Spent my night wondering why multi-cast wasn't working on a server to pleasantly (but frustratingly) realize it was a bad NIC driver :(
  10. @r38y Mind if I build it? :P
  11. @johnclaus what is it about projects written in Erlang that make me think, "this sucks less"? (especially compared to Java code...)
  12. Trying to find a good comparison of Hdfs vs OpenAfs & other distributed filesystems. Not sure why O'reilly's Hadoop book didn't address this
  13. @samj enjoy the late-night pleasure that is a New Jersey diner!
  14. @sethgoldstein services only have to be there when you retrieve your data. Reliability is an issue iif you & they go down at the same time.
  15. Building a map-reduce to analyze my netflow data. The only question is if I should use bashreduce or Hadoop.
  16. Can't believe I just discovered "BashReduce" (good thing I googled before writing my own..)
  17. Looks like Cancun for New Years... trying to figure out how (if) I can get prepaid Edge (or better) there.
  18. @lessallan I'd rather support Netscape 3 (or earlier!) than attempt supporting IE6...
  19. @monkships @noahgk I haven't tried them, but web developer @graybill supposedly makes excellent pickles, sells in Brooklyn.
  20. Building a clean Linux kernel faster than I can boot it: 49.811 seconds! (using dual Intel E5520 procs /w 24GB RAM)
