  1. Disappointed by a mondegreen again. I think the Eurhythmics' Missionary Man should have a "serious smile".
  2. Trivia: In 6th grade, I made a board game based on "The Fellowship of the Ring" for an English-class project.
  3. Somewhere in the multiverse, I finished college the first time and became a software author in the Pacific Northwest. Wonder how he's doing.
  4. Dear game industry: if you are spending more than $1, it is a macrotransaction, not a microtransaction. Love, Chris.
  5. @divinebubbles, actually, the tactic the department wants us to use is "just submit every Friday and hope for the best".
  6. @PixelExecution -- 6 days before the pay date in order to accept the sheet for payment. (Pay dates are bimonthly.)
  7. @PixelExecution, I have to submit by Friday 9 AM. Department processes the next Monday and sends to Payroll. Payroll has to receive --
  8. So apparently I need to submit timesheets by 9 AM on the Friday before the Monday before 6 days before the pay date. I need a drink.
  9. Starting to look like Hopkins did, indeed, screw me out of a paycheck. I thought we were past this. Not what I needed today.
  10. Dear Hopkins: Please do not screw me WRT paycheck this week. I really don't need that. Love, Chris.
  11. Seen on a church sign: "What are your prioites?" #1: a spellchecker. (No, there were no spaces for fallen/missing letters.)
  12. Also: the mere presence of a linking verb does not the passive voice make. "You should be doing your homework" is not passive.
  13. I think from now on I'll refer to "The Elements of Style" as "that tiny book of malevolent canon". http://bit.ly/2VaRGz
  14. Just got a Doors reference in Wailing Caverns by seeing Holly's coworker's T-shirt. Yes, you may sigh at my cultural literacy failure.
  15. Found a copy of Don Marquis's "archy and mehitabel" at the Old Book Shop. $2 and it was mine. <3 "expression is the need of my soul"
  16. @Albyll, only if I didn't prepare properly. ;) It'd be easy to go to a bank and say "I need $100 in pre-1975 bills for a history project."
  17. Largely offline again today. Text or email if you want to get in touch. Have a glorrrrrrrrrrious day! (http://bit.ly/39JGR5)
  18. In fairness, that's roughly following inflation. But I still want a time machine. ;)
  19. My copy of "Rendezvous with Rama" cost $1.75 new. A brand new paperback copy today costs $7.99. Same book. Sigh.
  20. Good morning, Twitter, and good day. I'm going to try to spend the rest of the day offline. Email goes to my phone if you need me.
