  1. @FirstAvenue Any idea about the order/time of festivites regarding the Blowout tonight? Cheers!
  2. @brokenhalo They definitely have an identifiable sound, but I hear a lot of progression between ( )-so sad, and new one, so optimistic.
  3. @brokenhalo I agree, but still liked their last record quite a bit. Did you hear Jónsi & Alex's album (or Jónsi's new single)? Good stuff.
  4. This new Jónsi song continues the recent Sigur Rós trend of uplifting, jubilant songs. I like it, but wonder about future of Sigur Rós a bit
  5. @Nyteowl Quite interesting. Will be a challenge to make it out of Group C. Watching the US/England match at Brit's should prove to be fun :)
  6. Slovenia are last draw for Group C, meaning US' group has 4 of the worlds top 33 ranked teams in the #WorldCupDraw
  7. Algeria, ranked #28th in the world, also in US (#14 in the world) Group C. England is #9. Looks to be a difficult group so far.
  8. Well, that's an interesting draw. US gets placed in England's Group C in the #WorldCupDraw
  9. @SoundVerite1 Agreed-Mpls hip-hop scene definitely doesn't begin/end w/Doomtree-but got to admit they throw 1 hell of a party w/the Blowout.
  10. @SoundVerite1 Encountered plenty of dudes like that, sadly. I like Kweli, Nas, Mos Def, Blueprint. Locally-Toki Wright, Guante, Heiru, etc.
  11. @SoundVerite1 Grew up on BDP, Rakim, PE, EPMD-those MC's had talent. Now it's all about hooks, guest stars, etc. But I'm away from the scene
  12. @SoundVerite1 Maybe I was overly harsh, but a lot of skill has gone out of the game-I listen mostly for beats these days, not MC skills.
  13. @SoundVerite1 I'm an old-school fan-most current stuff seems fake/useless. Liking some of new Rakim, POS of course, Roots. Suggestions?
  14. Quite excited to be covering 5th annual @Doomtree Blowout @FirstAvenue for @CityPages & @Gimme_Noise Should be a great show-they always are.
  15. My review of 'Bonfires On The Heath,' the brilliant new record by the Clientele is the featured review today on @TLOBF http://bit.ly/5AQVBI
  16. @TartyTart Actually like 'Got Nuffin' even more (sucker for the spelling) Happy to get you to listen to more Spoon-Good deed for day is done
  17. @TartyTart You didn't like 'Written In Reverse'-I dig that funky piano. I'm liking it, but it's really restrained & textured, a slow-burner.
  18. The new Spoon record is quite mellow. I'm charmed, but the album really does seem very subdued.
  19. @ArtsOrbit Please do. I worked with David a while back at Barnes and Noble. He's a great guy, very genuine. I hope he's OK.
  20. The Raveonettes were used for the closing segment on NBC news tonight to soundtrack the lighting of Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Cool.
