  1. CHARA run 2, night 2 - rocky start with computers but good conditions and valid data underway (give or take header errors).
  2. First night was difficult - between computer issues, high clouds and poor seeing, only limited sets of new data obtained. Forecast: better
  3. CHARA 2, night one: computer problems and high clouds. changing to inner array config and hoping for better seeing.
  4. With the arrival of December, so comes our 2nd CHARA run - the first chance to see how the intruding disk has changed since early Nov, V=3.5
  5. Campaign newsletter # 15 is now online - see http://www.hposoft.com/EAur09/NL09/NL15.pdf - 46 pages of data and commentary!
  6. eps Aur is quickly fading to V ~ 3.5, that's down by 0.5 mag since mid-August.
  7. Online chat happening now at http://www.aavso.org/cgi-bin/irc.cgi - join us, no account needed...
  8. Eclipse ingress continues, tho apparently slowing in blue bands compared to redder - due to hot star hidden in disk or F star pulsations?
  9. Apparently Shu-shu Huang was correct. We seem to see the dark disk intruding across the F star.
  10. 0200GMT on 3 Nov 2009: back at it at Mt.Wilson/CHARA - combo MIRC & PAVO instruments observing epsilon Aur. Good conditions, full moon.
  11. 1130GMT: reasonably successful evening, signing off and resuming next evening local time.
  12. Thus far we have about 30 degrees of "uv" coverage, with at least 180 degrees coverage needed to make a clear image.
  13. 1010GMT, continued fringe collection on eps, which goes out of range after 1153GMT.
  14. 0845GMT - have switched to inner array to extend hour angle coverage. Resuming with cal star fringes, eta Aur.
  15. Back to calibrator, 10 eta Aur. We'll need to change array settings after 0830GMT due to hour angle constraints. It will be awhile b4 pix.
  16. 0655GMT, first fringes on eps Aur!
  17. Finishing up on cal star 10 eta Aur. Seeing still holding at ro ~ 10 cm...
  18. Slewing to 10 (eta) Aur - calibrator star for eps.
  19. Variable seeing is slowing down the fringe finding process...
  20. It's 0255GMT. Calibrator for eps Aur comes into view at 0321, and eps after 0439...
