  1. @Pollana Since you hate Star Wars, maybe this will cheer you up! io9.com/5915645/what-i…
  2. Way to go @idiglearning! Idaho Digital Learning Wins Blackboard Catalyst Award bit.ly/JQvFy6
  3. @biepbl @daylynn Can you link to the 8 elements? I think people would be intrigued!
  4. @Rieva We all know 42.8% of stats are made up - Abe Lincoln ;) And even with good stats we still have all those Kahneman/Tversky-type biases
  5. @Rieva Yeah, but can you just see a new entrep's face when I drug in the OSHA guy who says "I'm here to help!" ?? and then actually DOES? :)
  6. @Rieva I also think there were cost factors involved. (Speaking of statistics, they are proposing big cuts to entrep-useful govt stats sigh)
  7. @Rieva There is a great fear of "regulatory capture" Regs are to punish the evil (neo-Puritans? To go with the neo-Luddites & neo-animists?)
  8. @Rieva I was startled to learn that. Usually you can get state entity to give you 'checkup' but it was fun to bring OSHA guy into a new biz
  9. @Rieva Recent change - last 2-3 years. Move to be more punitive [firms were avoiding fines] EPA is judge & jury (at least to small firms)
  10. @Rieva Example: Used to be I could go to OSHA or EPA & they would inspect my biz & tell me what needed fixing. No more,"that's helping biz"
  11. @Rieva In Scandinavia & Germany you see much more focus on win-win, even in thorny reg issues. We have visibly moved away from that.
  12. @Rieva Need some balance re costs. EPA often demands most-expensive yet less-effective remedy. Too many regulators see biz as enemy
  13. @Rieva @michaeldsimmons Sweden has lowered reg burden and it has paid off handsomely, Denmark too. p.s. you'll love doingbusiness.org
  14. @Rieva Long version: icsb.org/documents/Reyn… Short version applied: bit.ly/PDR3Keys @michaeldsimmons
  15. @Rieva @michaeldsimmons but that suggests that maybe too many small/new firms have lost that (or that costs just too high... for now)
  16. @Rieva @michaeldsimmons Re uncertainty, seeing that as necessity (even ally) is heart of entrep mindset- even neuroscience has evidence
  17. @michaeldsimmons @rieva Oddly, I'm simultaneously finishing a report for OECD's Office of Entrep - was on eval team for 3 German programs
  18. @lovebuckeyes Nice job with @pghmatchmaker - go get 'em!
  19. @Rieva Dealing with uncertainty is entrep's key role, so if uncertainty deters them are the no longer entreps? Now just small biz?
  20. @michaeldsimmons Also, if Paul Reynolds is right from his reanalysis of GEM data, we need to grow more/better entrep human capital @rieva
