  1. I'm currently in Texas, and no joke: the only channel that comes through clearly on my motel TV is Fox News.
  2. A valet just gave my car a digusted look. Nice to see you again too, Los Angeles.
  3. I so enjoy returning to my home country and being warmly welcomed by US Customs agents who want to search my car.
  4. To enjoy your travels wherever you may be you need to have but one skill: the ability to find a bartender with a heavy hand.
  5. The guest book at the Forks Visitor Center: http://twitpic.com/9xiap
  6. The fact that my GPS interprets "WA" as "Western Australia" does not bode well for my ability to navigate the Pacific Northwest.
  7. I crossed the Snake River several times today; not once was I asked if I wanted to ford the river or caulk the wagon and float it across.
  8. I just saw Transformers, and I was surprised by how much of it I enjoyed. Like the part when the projector cut out.
  9. Someone really needs to explain to Montanans the difference between a casino and a really boring arcade.
  10. I miss my home and husband and cats, sure, but what I miss most about Queens is the heartwarming sight of an agonized Mets fan after a loss.
  11. I can never tell if I like Montana more for its staggering beauty or its scant population.
  12. I loved New Orleans, but never before upon leaving a city has the phrase "smell you later" seemed quite so appropriate.
  13. The very real danger of road-tripping by myself is that eventually I will turn to showtunes. And I might never turn back.
  14. As soon as they've handled more pressing issues, New Orleans may want to look into the heretofore unchecked proliferation of living statues.
  15. Ah, Alabama. #1 in your programs, approximately #44 in my heart.
  16. Some days I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. Luckily, I have the staff at Starbucks to help me feel a little less alone in the world.
  17. If I never again have to drive in Miami it will be too soon. Not that I can really call what they do driving. "Narrowly not-dying," maybe.
  18. I'm clearly not biologically cut out for this climate. I feel like a sous-vide chicken.
  19. I've attempted to speak four languages today, and I've butchered them all. Sadly, that includes English.
  20. Miami's not so different from New York, really. It's just more naked.
