  1. It's raining - first time it's rained since we got here. More drizzle than rain - not sure it's worth an umbrella yet
  2. Been here six days and we've put in an application for the first apartment we saw... either mad or very efficient or maybe both
  3. Have arranged school tour for Thurs at 9 am, apartment tour for 11 am and nervous breakdown for 12 noon
  4. Yes! I've found a gadget I got to work first time! And it was the cork screw
  5. Became hysterical in supermarket when I discovered there's a cut of meat called pork butt roast
  6. Nearly half an hour and an electric shock later and the washing machine is on. First time doing laundry nearly killed me.
  7. And today's technical challenge? The (enormous) washing machine
  8. Three for the price of one, posts on my blog about the journey etc. http://bit.ly/R9TkN
  9. RT @mikeolson: http://twitpic.com/nw9sd - Famous Welsh programmer @tom_e_white and his cowboy ride. (Well what else could we get?)
  10. Berkeley Farmers Market was brilliant. Piles of beautiful veg and fruit. Cooking should be fun here.
  11. Do you think anyone would notice if I fell asleep in a corner for the rest of the afternoon?
  12. p.s. @mikeolson deserves major brownie points for his patience yesterday waiting ages for us at SFO & enduring hours of driving - thank you
  13. We're here! So far experienced terrible traffic (thanks Bay Bridge for closing!), good Chinese food, excellent company & a night's sleep
  14. Final packing done, labels written, more goodbyes being said & I have a streaming cold which doesn't bode well for the flight
  15. Homeless and now also car-less
  16. Have left Wales. Have left laptop in Wales. Suspect may have left brain there too, and all my energy.
  17. No internet, no phone now. Hot desking at the neighbours. Ought to be packing but have lost the will
  18. Can't decide if my heart is racing because I'm about to move to the US or I ate too much dark chocolate
  19. Deciding which teddies get to go to America - makes dealing with BT seem like a walk in the park
  20. @BTCare There's no point. I've been into this & BT say it would mean 2-3 days & a new number... We move in 5 days so not worth the bother
