  1. @sniffles us too! :)
  2. @emmaewood I think those watching have agreed to agree or disagree, and have moved on. No new info to comment on (SLA HQ strategy?) #slaname
  3. Academic research libraries facing tough times in the years ahead http://bit.ly/6dIvYu
  4. @mjecclestone "So, are you going to the ASKP conference this year?" Great, now it sounds like "Ask Skippy... " :) #slaname
  5. @mjecclestone It will just take time, longer if ASKP is accepted. You can't even pronounce ASKP! #slaname
  6. @jcrosby4 ...and just for the record, I don't think the name change is irrelevant #slaname
  7. @mjecclestone FWIW, the acronym has been taken off the voting ballot + SLA may never use it, but that doesn't make it go away #slaname
  8. @jcrosby4 I think the need to reflect and plot a new course will be, in the long run, positive for both SLA as well as members #slaname
  9. @jcrosby4 agreed on options. People will be realigning themselves as well, and SLA will have to work to keep them / win them back. #slaname
  10. @jcrosby4 but if a librarian only has time/money to invest in one organization, I'm not sure that everyone will choose SLA #slaname
  11. @jcrosby4 With unlimited time and money, sure, sign up for the SLA/SAKP #slaname
  12. @dclucy Although I hope ASKP isn't accepted, I'm not convinced the rumblings on twitter/listservs are representative #slaname
  13. We just may not be moving forward together.. which might be better for everyone involved. #slaname
  14. That SLA is no longer focused on librarians is the reality. Accepting this is painful, but in the end, we all have to move forward #slaname
  15. @yankeeincanada Conversely, librarians need to seriously consider then if SLA/ASKP is assoc. to best represent them going forward #slaname
  16. @yankeeincanada agreed. reality is that SLA no longer represents librar* above others, should redefine + align itself accordingly #slaname
  17. @jeiseman agree on need to remove librar* from name, but that doesn't make ASKP a good choice of name #slaname
  18. @loriekloda ok. I guess it is normal that the process is entirely dark for the moment.
  19. @uinen re: CAUT investigation, is there any timeline for additional information being made public?
  20. @schmanz tks for the info... I'm still hoping it wasn't a widespread occurrence
