  1. Will be placing anti icing on residential streets in hilly areas this winter. So you may see a truck in your street before it snows.
  2. Placing brine for anti icing on bridges when frost is forcasted.
  3. Join us for the annual snow show, Saturday October 10 from 8:00am to noon on the Court ave bridge & vote for your favorite painted snow plow
  4. Even though the weather is warm, public works crews are preparing for the upcoming snow season by training drivers and updating maps.
  5. Des Moines snow ordinance is in effect. Parking is not allowed on snow routes. If possible, move cars from residential streets.
  6. Public Works snow crews are applying salt/abrasives to the snow routes and should be completed by 3:30 pm
  7. Residents who wish to report sidewalks not cleared of snow and ice accumulations may call 283-4950 and report the address of the sidewalk.
  8. The 48-hour grace period to clear sidewalks of snow and ice accumulation has ended. Sidewalks should be clear at this time.
  9. Des Moines Public Works crews are hauling sand to the supply yard and mixing the sand and salt together for future storm events.
  10. Des Moines Public Works crews are hauling salt from the 10,000 ton capacity salt storage facility in Grimes to the local supply yard.
