  1. No sailboat ever won a contest by staying in the dry dock. Got to stay in the game before you know what the real game is.
  2. Don't look for the knee of the hocket stick. Instead, wait for the pivot that would get you onto a different game.
  3. A perfect defense is your only offense. Ignore your competitors and focus exclusively on your existing customers.
  4. Focus on your current customer base & make sure everyone is happy. The cost of acquiring a new customer is extremely high in a down market.
  5. VC's always want us to aim high, but in a down market such as this, it is best to shot low.
  6. Don't supersize your business with VC money. Instead, sacrifice growth by making sure that your early-adopter customers are extremely happy.
  7. Instead of vision, you need to have peripheral vision. Don't think outside of the box, think inside the box.
  8. Entrepreneurs need to defy Silicon Valley VC myths. Instead of innovating, you need to "nanovate".
