  1. @jzb: Seen LimeSurvey? There was a nice talk by some of its devs at the GSoC summit
  2. Watching a parkour competition on MTV2. Urban acrobatics -- pretty amazing stuff!
  3. "Practically anyone who published anything requiring a biomolecular image used PyMol," and its author just unexpectedly died. bit.ly/1a9Ryk
  4. Funny quote: Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".
  5. @sogrady: You might like this post, "Distributions *are* the strength of Linux" -- http://bit.ly/46hnqN
  6. Finally got a ticket for @MinneBar today. If I missed this big of a local conf, I'd be a pariah even among geeks like me.
  7. @minnebar: Sweet, my Yahoo Pipes feed worked like a charm! I published it for anyone else to use if they need tickets: http://bit.ly/QcqZF
  8. @minnebar: OK, will do. Hacked up an RSS feed w/ Yahoo Pipes to tell me when the page doesn't say Sold Out anymore.
  9. Bummed that I'm gonna miss @minnebar because I just moved back to MN and didn't hear about it till tickets were gone.
  10. Less than Free - a good article about Google, Android and the GPS market http://bit.ly/26CGn8 (via @storming)
  11. A little creeped out. How could Facebook know to suggest as a friend some random person who I've had one email conversation with on Gmail?
  12. What I want for Christmas: A new phone with less suckage (iPhone? Blackberry Storm?), and Bose noise-canceling headphones.
  13. Think you don't need sales skills? Think again. Even as a researcher, I need to sell myself and my work. Conferences, talks, papers, grants.
  14. That your product is *capable* of enabling a cool result is meaningless if we need superhuman motivation/persistence. (via @KathySierra)
  15. Spent all day yesterday learning how to use a $100,000 piece of equipment to purify protein. Still screwed it up. Trying again tomorrow.
  16. Most useful thing I learned today: A solution called cacodylate, which I regularly use, contains arsenic. Note to self: be careful.
  17. @pinguar: wtf did you disappear to?
  18. I never imagined enjoying a blueberry-flavored beer. But here it is, and here I am. Wild Blue. Gold Medal from North American Brewers Assoc
  19. @boscoh: Have you tried combining your method for coming up with lots of protein conformations w/ protein-protein docking?
  20. @boscoh: Congrats! I've got one in purgatory too...
