  1. @TurnbullMalcolm Risk management is also about being able to tell the difference between leading edge and bleeding edge.
  2. @julie_posetti Yes and yes.
  3. http://online.wsj.com/artic...
  4. @nickobec Crikey! I thought you were the hyper fit one too with all that cycling.
  5. @samanthamaiden In my dyslexic state I read that as "she did discuss resignation option to UNTIE party."
  6. @burntsugar LOL.
  7. @gregwoodhouse Yes. (But I just might be having a bit of http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... as well)
  8. New panic. The time_t 64bit bug. Yes 64bit systems will fail Sunday, December 4, 292,277,026,596 AD! Start your panic now.
  9. @burntsugar (It is actually totally correct - BUT- in the next 2 decades we might just upg to 64bit, and introduce a new 64bit time_t)
  10. @velvetsarah Congats!!
  11. The 'Year 2038 problem', don't waste a good panic. Have your panic now before its all over.
  12. @burntsugar Hmm point. How about hundreds of millions of 32-bit systems using 32bit 'time_t' will fail Tuesday, 19 January 2038.
  13. I want to start some panic over the forthcoming Y2038 problem. It is going to be much worse than Y2k.
  14. @skribe http://www.ironic.com/y2k/
  15. @skribe I'm a pretty fracking reputable source thank you very much. IT manager and software dev. And there were many others that year.
  16. @skribe But like its modern day equivalent, don't justify the beat up.
  17. @skribe Of course there were problems. And there were more serious buffer over-run problems that never got much press at all.
  18. @skribe There was a documentary shown on the ABC (I think), that had riots, people dying, economic collapse the whole disaster deal.
  19. @skribe I remember an IT committee meeting at PKF in Dec 1999. Both the new guy and me (I left 31/12/199) said then it was a beat up.
  20. @skribe Nope. I thought it was serious in 1998. I spent 1999 playing it down. It was hyped even in 1998. Lots were dissing it in 1999.
