  1. @alexhardy Dunno. And recognisability plays a big part - if it works, who cares if it's pretty? Look at the Morrison's logo....
  2. @alexhardy I suspect it's done deliberately, to court controversy and get talked about.
  3. @alexhardy I can't believe those are genuine logos. Is it true? They're like something you see from a sixth form design class.
  4. Been playing with my g/f's new multi-touch tablet laptop. It's a remarkably nice way to use a laptop. I hope tablets take off this time...
  5. Spent a lot of time with my head inside databases today - had forgotten how much I enjoy that stuff.
  6. @MethodDan it's very simple, and you can in fact use it for all sorts of purposes beyond WP. Solves serialized PHP s/r problems
  7. @andrea_r @simonwheatley yes, really easy. Optimize you have to be careful about - can be slow on large fulltexts, some servers will bork.
  8. James is testing our forthcoming WP migration tool (GPL! Free!) and learned what a dangerous tool it is - heheh :o)
  9. Wow, WordPress 2.0.12 alpha. Don't see that much. And now, I'm not saying where I found it!
  10. This week has been exhausting, but full of highs. If every week was like this we'd be a 100 strong multi-millions company. Incredible.
  11. @glencooley I would aim at once a week if it was me. Depends on rate of data growth, of course.
  12. @andrea_r I'm not sure it would be accepted - problem is, takes a lot of storage, and needs regular optimisation runs. Too heavy for core?
  13. Interesting - added a FULLTEXT index to wp_posts on post_content - improved search performance by factor of 60 here. #wordpress
  14. @benjaminbradley In this case it was the very simple query_cache_size setting, default is 0 on XAMPP installs (for good reason)
  15. Just shown James how to make mySQL run faster and he's oooh and aaahing at the suddenly dramatic speed of his dev environment :o)
  16. @simonwheatley hang on - you and @mcknut know each other? Small world this....
  17. I can't believe I hadn't been following @elpie until just now. She's a smart cookie involved in the WP world. Follow her. #followfriday
  18. After ten hours, it is now time to step away from the computer and go visit the real world. Tara folks.
  19. Finally looked up what the #nanowrimo hastag was all about. I imagined something small. It's actually about novels. Fancy that.
  20. Tomorrow I will mostly be analysing queries and tables. #jesse
