  1. huh. just figured out how the macbook does its ambient light sensing - via the iSight. I'd been wondering.
  2. @jennreese in my case I have a laptop or a mac mini in the TV cabinet streaming wirelessly
  3. @jennreese boxee is pure win. Using it to stream our personal DVD collection (ripped w/Handbrake), plus Netflix & Hulu, etc. And torrents.
  4. @sungo nevermind, I see last.fm there (_and_ pandora? you're a madman)
  5. @sungo I'm about to borrow your pandora gizmo (what's that other one above it on the blog?)
  6. @sungo I LOL'd (esp @ "woody harrelson playing himself") he was awesome in Zombieland, btw. two thumbs up.
  7. @mmDonuts and like that guy at the HS reunion who looks the same, the real change isn't visible on the surface. (kernel analogy here)
  8. @jennreese 1) install boxee on laptop; 2) plug laptop into TV; 3) enjoy!
  9. pro tip: if I can't view your site or buy tickets via a mobile browser, myspace and facebook pages aren't going to help much.
  10. muvico may be the world's premiere moviegoing experience, but I can neither buy tickets nor view the website on any smartphone. #fail #fb
  11. @rjbs @boxee does, and it works QUITE well. And is available for the three major platforms. :)
  12. @rjbs eventually media center boxes that stream from NAS will be cheap enough to entirely supplant DVD players :)
  13. @rjbs oh! I see what you did there. handy DVD player, that ... I guess you could keep an older handbrake around for that purpose ...
  14. every once in a while the live news delivers a comedy goldmine at newscasters' expense
  15. I wonder if the canyons near Malibu will be dry tonight or not ... I'll be sad if I have to go another weekend w/no drive
  16. @rjbs ok yeah, that's a good call (although iDVD should be able to author DVDs from MP4/h.264 content)
  17. @rjbs any XBMC-derived software should be able to playback either MKV or MP4 containers (I rip iPhone-compat, HD and @Boxee does great w/it)
  18. @rjbs wait, you're going from digital files back to physical media? why?
  19. @rjbs see the release notes on the front page - unfortunate that your dvd player doesn't grok h.264
  20. somebody needs to tell cable/satellite providers: the phrase "TV + Internet" is redundant, and getting moreso every day.
