  1. The house of knick knacks is a tough place to visit with the baby. I'm just saying.
  2. If the link in my last tweet didn't work, try this: http://bit.ly/performable
  3. Performable guys are starting to talk more about what they're up to: http://bit.ly/4HdH3b. Should be good stuff (it's a stellar team)
  4. @ccgillett I'm guessing: code, work on a car, hang with the girl? Speaking of code, does your RabbitMQ post signal interest in Erlang?
  5. Remote working a bunch around the holidays. So far: quite productive, a bit lonely, and my ping pong skills are atrophying.
  6. As in: if I ever make that indie movie, I'll use "All Sideways", or "Hope", and everyone will be all: Who *is* that band?!
  7. You know who's a sucker for a poignant rock-band-almost-hits-it-big story? This guy. Listening to Scarce's EP, Red, much greatness.
  8. This afternoon's experiment: how productive will I be after a chili cheeseburger, onion rings + fries?
  9. Here's something I find somewhat hilarious about myself: 15+ years into my coding career, I still expect things to work the first time.
  10. Sensational list of quotes predicting death of iPhone prior to launch. http://bit.ly/7nLJrJ (via @adamzaks)
  11. And then we get to "Can't Hardly Wait", and all is right with the world.
  12. The day when iTunes happens upon my Replacements albums and doesn't leave is a fine day.
  13. @nicktj it doesn't act as failover, despite the name. It serves an ongoing purpose.
  14. @nicktj secondary namenode isn't a backup--it compresses the edit log (or some such). Need to back up nn metadata or key hdfs data.
  15. @metcalfc restarted the NameNode without backing anything up. Storm of errors for a terrifying 20 mins, then it got it's act together.
  16. Came terrifyingly close to toasting our Hadoop cluster this am. Time to distcp a backup, stat. And breathe.
  17. @ccgillett Jealous. ;-)
  18. Last night, hooked up rrdtool to an ongoing job I've been getting pretty worried about. This morning: data! pretty graphs! dan == happy.
  19. Today, @eddiehebert and I are geeking out on learning about MySQL profiling + benchmarking. Good times.
  20. Ready to ride home. @ojrac loaned me a winter hat, and may thus have saved my life.
