  1. @jboner Is there anywhere you explain why you don't use native Scala actors (or how #akka actors differ from native Scala actors)?
  2. Hopping on the bikes with the family hoping to get a ride before the weather comes in!
  3. @pmonks ...with enough depth to get things done.
  4. @pmonks The staircase book is a good explanation of the spec, Programming Scala is a good balance of getting started quickly...
  5. Programming Scala (O'Reilly) has the best succinct explanation of functional programming I have ever read. Also explains closures well
  6. @deanwampler Thanks for the book, I'm enjoying it. Didn't think I needed it but it fills the gap between Venkat and Odersky's book.
  7. @nuttycom What are you using for persistence with Scala? Hibernate? JPA/EclipseLink?
  8. Having good luck with the Scala 2.8 beta plugin on NetBeans 6.8 beta.
  9. @matthewmccull Although you could have just had someone download the slides from the #nfjs site too. :)
  10. @matthewmccull I hear you Matt! Having the slides on my cell phone saved me when my laptop borked at @boulderjug.
  11. Just purchased O'reilly's "Programming Scala". Already enjoying the section on DSLs. The forward by @jboner lends a bit of credibility. :)
  12. The baby is asleep, the wife is out, and I'm working on my first DSL in Scala.
  13. Loading the Scala Netbeans plugin for work. Yes, for work. It must be the holidays. Positively giddy. Internal DSL land, here I come!
  14. @yardus Thanks for the heads up about #btrace. I see the distinction, you are not changing the byte code but you are changing the class file
  15. One great use case for Git: offshore development with poor infrastructure (a.k.a. slow pipes).
  16. A good night's sleep makes for a good day. Ready to roll today, ready to roll.
  17. @prpatel My neighbor works for Dish (kind of funny since I work for Comcast). I'll make sure to kick him in the shins when I get home.
  18. @matthewmccull Apple funds the replacement hardware by mining broken drives for data. Prepare to be p*wned.
  19. It was good meeting @pbailey19 and @prpatel at #nfjs this weekend.
  20. @bsletten shows how the big picture can be achieved through sizable building blocks and @tedneward is always entertaining... and informative
