  5. Nothing destroys our perception of a room more quickly than a photograph where vertical and horizontal lines are crooked.

  8. What brand and model camera do you use?
  9. If there is a key element in the room, such as a fireplace, or dramatic stairway, make sure the element is featured prominently.
  10. Use a monopod.
  11. If you have no choice but to include a toilet in your photo, please put down the seat. I hope we don't need to remind you to flush.
  12. When photographing bathrooms, if possible exclude the toilet.
  13. For older structures, show more environmental context in the photo.
  14. A home that looks plain and uninteresting during the day can be transformed by lighting at night.
  15. A wide-angle lens will make the front of the building look massive compared to the rear.

  18. Don't get too close to objects with a wide lens. This will create distortion, especially with rounded objects.
