@ by boundary, do you just mean network? with AWS, the only real difference between normal EC2 and VPC is the network

@ the real thing that drives openness is pain caused by un-openness and the $$$ it eats up. may not be enough cloud pain today

@ you could. the vCloud directory could point to a OAuth endpoint or something else that could use SAML for auth

@ you could say the same of OVF. seems like the current 0.8 API draft was rushed for VMworld, but they do want to improve it.
