  1. cheeks kissed by napa cabbage leaves as I carry armloads from the fields. a vegetable benediction on a wet morning.
  2. Another low-key morning at the farm: harvesting daikons, pulling out the irrigation tape, talking, beginning to be in winter mode.
  3. Back from a trip to Tantre farm and the freezer warehouse. Long Winter Kitchen stuff is coming together!
  4. I think these days of suffused colors are lovely and I like Farmer's Market when it's not insane. bought tons of veggies for winter kitchen
  5. Spicing it up with hot pepper chutney. Pumpkin sage soup is also happening--deep fried sage leaves make the oil pop. :-)
  6. morning going smoothly so far--we seem to be ahead. music is keeping us chill. rain is falling. kitchen full of good smells.
  7. Turnips and turnip greens; parsley; choi; kale; winter squash; pumpkins. the prep crew rocks the prep!
  8. what's on the menu? menu planning after last night's opera and before lunch with EDS. daikon radishes are such a challenge.
  9. the weather today was so beautiful and pleasantly warm. frost has sweetened the arugula, mizuna, and tatsoi. yum!
  10. sweet baby Ben distracting us from garlic planting on this lovely afternoon. what could be more worthwhile than playing with a 3-mo-old?
  11. quarterly tax filing--why is it so darn hard? trying to focus; wondering why Brandi Carlile never comes up on my last.fm station.
  12. dang it, @aafarmersmarket, I was there at that time and COULD NOT FIND Blair and fermentation anywhere. so sad to have missed it. :-(

  14. we are SO on top of things today-what a welcome change from the past two to three weeks. Enjoying my music collection on shuffle as we work!
  15. broccoli pasta done, potato leek soup almost there, delicata with kale just needs to be tossed. yummy work, cooking crew!
  16. @olivialmay will ask my friend about hers. possibly labor-intense and wrong climate? only a guess.good question--I would love local celery.
  17. @olivialmay not sure. don't grow it myself; never grown it at farm (tho we did leaf celery a few years ago) one friend claims local success
  18. when I saw Melanie last night at Evita we had both eaten spaghetti squash for dinner. Coincidence? maybe. now menu planning.
  19. Only just thawed frozen fingers (kidding). Good spirits and good harvest in this morning's chill.
  20. about to make some SAUERKRAUT! :-)
