Chef now up and running on CouchDB 0.10.0. Able to delete documents and db is now 0.7 MB. Had to migrate with a custom Ruby script.

@ Import export tools in Python failed. Managed to replicate and get a small, compactable db, but it still has undeletable documents.

@ Compaction fails with an exception in the logs. Also, attempting to delete certain documents crashes the process.

@ The db can't be compacted and certain documents cannot be deleted. It is a 0.8.0 db. Any advice?

Uncompactable Chef couchdb database with only 13 documents is now 16.3 GB. Must stop it before it consumes us all!

@ We wish that was all we needed to run all of Shopify! Our homepage, shopify.com, uses 3 dynos on heroku. Shopify is in Rackspace.
