@ Possibly. The creation of a community controlled Android would be more effective I suspect in creating a thriving OS ecosystem.

@ Well, as FOSS lacks a business model for phone scale it may well be a required gap - OS development, closed distribution

@ The Android dev folk are very much about using OS. The "Service and support" model of FOSS doesn't scale to a 50p app though.
