  2. Man, I've been writing about storm names long enough that I can actually crib from an old 2006 post to write up this year's names. Sweet.
  3. give information on performance of past predictions.Also like to show that the notion that the predictions are always overblown is false.

  5. My review of 2007-2011 hurricane season predictions will therefore have to wait a day.
  6. Ugh. Don't have the my tracking spreadsheet for hurricane predictions available and don't feel like recreating it from scratch.
  7. The last of the predictions that I track to be relased comes out from Colorado State on Friday.

  10. That's a tiny bit higher than the other forecasts released so far. The model had outstanding performance is 2009 & 2010...

  13. Gainesville recorded just over 1" of rain. Looks like they are about to get some more, from the southern end of the band that's through Jax
  14. As of 5:00 PM, Jax International Airport recorded 1.49" of rain. Just might catch one more shower to add to that total tonight.

  16. National Weather Service Office has been putting out little briefings on Beryl.Unfortunately I haven't noticed them when they're hot & fresh
  17. Main rainband has cleared downtown Jacksonville. Might get clipped by a narrow band in an hour or so, but won't be long lasting.
  18. Recall that 2007 had two storms by June 1st... then nothing until the end of July. And it was a couple more weeks until 1st hurricane.
  19. Moderate-heavy rain across the whole Jacksonville area for the time being though. Clearing from west to east.
