  1. Finally getting caught up on our LAFF reviews. First up: Hayao Miyazaki's PONYO. http://tinyurl.com/cvponyo
  2. "Public Enemies" may be strangest July blockbuster opener ever, because of how non-blockbuster it is. Review up! http://tinyurl.com/lg5phq
  3. @scottEweinberg Don't worry -- you're not!
  4. It may not always make sense, but it kept the kids in the audience enraptured, even when the adults got fidgety.
  5. Miyazaki and his team never fail to disappointing, delivering yet another sumptuous world of wonder and magic.
  6. The adult voices are given great weight by Tina Fey, Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, and Lily Tomlin.
  7. Frankie Jonas and Noah Cyrus, Disney's newest prince and princess, to a fantastic job in the English dub.
  8. Another beautiful from Studio Ghibli, PONYO is a much simpler tale geared towards a younger audience.
  9. 10 backlogged reviews to follow, throughout the week.
  10. The English dub once again offers up an all-star cast.
  11. Seated early for Hayao Miyazaki's PONYO ON THE CLIFF BY THE SEA, the close of the LA Film Festival.
  12. We've all been there. I defy you not to connect with these characters on some level.
  13. This is a no-holds barred relationship adventure in ideal gender non-specific form.
  14. Move aside romcoms. Hollywood has its first post-modern romance in (500) DAYS OF SUMMER.
  15. I'm continually amazed by groups of 3 or 4 people who show up late to a movie and are shocked they can't find seats together.
  16. Tonight's LAFF screening is (500) DAYS OF SUMMER. Another packed house at The Crest with a huge standby line.
  17. Hats off to ILM, Digital Domain, and Asylum for another round of knockout visual effects. Sadly, that's all the picture has going for it.
  18. The humor is forced, the backstory is far too complex and unnecessary, and the film could have easily been cut down to under 2 hours.
  19. It's true. TRANSFORMERS 2 is a bloated, unfocused mess, though not as painful to watch as TERMINATOR: SALVATION.
  20. It's just a tough sell; one of those pictures that's only going to work for a select group of people.
