  1. And to close out the night, a west coast beer: Stone Smoked Porter w/vanilla beans. Mmm, like a vanilla latte.
  2. Allagash Fluxus (saison) is nicely refreshing. Southampton pumpkin ale better than expected.
  3. Allagash Black on cask has too much anise for me. But Captain Lawrence's Golden Sour was wonderfully wine-accented.
  4. And back to beer: Victory Hop Wollop (double IPA) on cask and Ommegang Rouge Grand Cru (sour) at Rattle & Hum in Manhattan.
  5. Back to "cine" for a moment: "Odd Man Out" at Film Forum, starring James Mason as an Irish maybe-IRA-member was refreshingly weird.
  6. Captain Lawrence Reserve Imperial IPA closes out the night. Mmm, hops.
  7. All Elysian tonight. At the Blind Tiger. Just my luck. But the Trip III sour, made with New Belgium, is pretty good, if only mildly sour.
  8. For the record, the NY3 is not from Sixpoint. But the Bolshoi is, and it's a nice rich Russian stout.
  9. Sixpoint tasting at Pacific Standard. NY3 is a decent mild farmhouse ale.
  10. Six Point Sweet Action (yum!) and Wolaver's Organic IPA (meh) at Northeast Kingdom in Brooklyn.
  11. Flying out to NY on Virgin. Nice planes, but man, every non-Southwest airline is just terrible at boarding.
  12. Thirsty Bear Vanilla is, well Vanilla
  13. And again, I've misidentified a brewery: the Proving Ground Magnolia
  14. 21st Amendment Back in Black IPA was unimpressive. As was Thirsty Bear Mt Hood IPA. back to dark beer.
  15. Beach Chalet Proving Ground IPA, on the other hand, is hoppy goodness.
  16. First two were tasty, but SF Brewing's Gripman Porter is over-carbonated and bland.
  17. Make that Speakeasy imperial red
  18. Brews on the bay: Thirsty Bear bourbon-aged coffee stout, Magnolia imperial red
  19. @severinus I saw it when I was up there at the beginning of August. Beer Advocate seemed so-so on the idea, so I stuck with the original.
  20. "Inglourious Basterds" at the Castro was a much better experience than expected. A frantic genre mash-up of Western, war, and caper movies.
