  1. Done for today. Back at it 9AM June 5.
  2. RAs at the UofO *are* public employees and have union rights. RAs at OSU are *not* public employees (according to OSU). Huh?
  3. ALJ: It's not about whether employer thinks these assistants are employees. It's whether they fit under ERB definition of public employee.
  4. Oops. University's lawyer repeatedly calls us 'employees' while arguing we are not, in fact, employees.
  5. OSU's witnesses are done. Rev Dr. Crandall up next--a grad perspective on the grad experience. Novel.
  6. OSU has a lot to say about the "intimacy" of your relationship with your advisor.
  7. From OSU: your salary and FTE are not meant to reflect the hours you work or your productivity. It's merely financial aid, not compensation.
  8. Breaking for lunch. Jacque reiterates OSU's view that RA salary is merely financial aid.
  9. Aaron Wolf called to testify that he could identify no RAs whose work was soley for own thesis. As such, he views all RAs as in service.
  10. Sabah gives his view on RA salaries as financial aid & how he feels grad-advisor relationships work. Notably, OSU has no grad witnesses.
  11. An observers perspective on the happenings at the bargaining table: cge6069.org/osu_commits_to…
  12. Our very own, Dennis Dugan, in the Gazette Times: "OSU should let all grad students unionize." gazettetimes.com/news/opinion/c…
  13. Next bargaining sess scheduled for June 7th more then likely.
  14. there's an obvious unwillingness on OSU's behalf to make real headway on these issues
  15. "If we're not going to remit all fees, then lets have a logical conversation about the fees...eventually you will just come back for more"
  16. Reducing fees is an effective way for the University to benefit grad employees and also represent an incentive for recruiting grad students!
  17. CGE has brought fees, salary issues and other health care issues as our needs and interests to make improvements, using realistic demands.
  18. They want us to stoop to their level when talking about fees. And to not talk on the level of economics.
  19. OSU has been kind enough to tell us in detail what fees we pay. But we're still waiting to hear anything on what they'll do for fees.
  20. These issues seem to be only for grads on federal grants. So we can maybe work around it.
