  1. Soooo, this is what it is like to have high-speed internet from home!
  2. Continued to probe the CW-era history of the Clear Spring District this past weekend. Some things coming up soon in more posts
  3. I love this time of year... apple cider and ginger snaps!
  4. Thinking about historical memory "burn-ins" today, especially when I can recall, EXACTLY, what I was doing eight years ago this morning.
  5. A fine example of radicalism in action in the SCV... http://bit.ly/hOMha
  6. @caswain01 Thought the show "The Little Ice Age" on History was pretty good. That's a shocker, I know, as "Hystery" rarely has anything good
  7. @caswain01 I'm of the thinking that there is something to the melting of fresh water bergs impacting the ocean conveyer
  8. @caswain01 Afraid to think of the new name for a sub-season of winter... hmmm, wait! Is that snow on the Blue Ridge or a glacier coming?!
  9. Ever notice how the critics of academia are... oh wait, I seem to recall a fine Southern saying... "if you can't say somethin' nice..."
  10. OK, it isn't October... and yet, I see that some leaves are changing and falling already! Better stock-up on firewood and propane!
  11. Geez! The state budget cuts hacked nearly 10 million from JMU's budget. Seems safe to say that I won't be landing a state job...
  12. Blue-gray reunions... are we not seeing what was really behind the rhetoric of those who spoke at them? Respect for former foe, not cause.
  13. Loved that article in America's CW about Waterford. Those rebels against rebellion showed more guts than they are credited for.
  14. Wow... heard the Beastie Boys on the radio today and forgot how much I liked listening to their music! Eighties flashback!
  15. I think the absence of such practitioners from most blog rolls tells us that most in the CW blogosphere are in agreement.
  16. ... and a heavy dose of it at that.
  17. The point... nothing like "obfuscating" an understanding of Civil War history with contemporary views of politics and politicians.
  18. Granted, we all give way once in a while to other things, but the Civil War generally remains the main focus.
  19. A blog that touts itself as a Civil War blog should focus on the history of the Civil War and even how it is interpreted today.
  20. Unknown NY soldier found at Antietam is going home... http://bit.ly/tYP2y
