  1. I'm Under the Dome with Stephen King and I think I'll be there awhile--that's one fat book, but so far, a good 'un.
  2. A sprinkle of snow for us, but up around our cottage, it's already got the look of a winter wonderland.
  3. Got the sad news today that Robert Holdstock has passed away. Such a great writer and a real gentleman. He'll be missed.
  4. Finished the column, finished the edit; now at a less hectic pace, I can get back to the project I was working on before all of this came up
  5. I wonder which of the dogs on the sleeve of the new Norah Jones is her Ralphie? But I suppose that's what Google's for...
  6. Hope all you Stateside folks had a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
  7. Got a head full of stories, but no time to tell them. But did make some time to play with Johnny & the new poofy rat that MaryAnn got him.
  8. Still stuck in rewrite and column land.
  9. Been working non-stop on the Viking book & my F&SF column, both of which're late. Johnny resents my eds because it makes for less play time
  10. Went to see Fiftymen's 10th anniversary gig tonight--Cdn alt country at its best in a cool old theatre in our old neighbourhood.
  11. Some days you get to see a pileated woodpecker and crows flying tatterwise across the sky; other days you just get a cold rain.
  12. Another fine night at the pub. Our Greg Brown was in particularly fine form.
  13. Working on the edit of The Painted Boy.
  14. There's so much good music coming out at the moment, fabulous new albums by the likes of Thea Gilmore, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Ian Tamblyn
  15. Went out to watch the meteor shower, but there wasn't anything to see. Not like up at the lake where we've seen some amazing displays.
  16. Been listening to the new Topic Records box set retrospective--7 CDs in a hc book. What an amazing collection. What a fabulous label.
  17. Good way to spend a rainy afternoon: hanging with the pup & visiting with an old friend, listening to some of her new songs.
  18. Back home again--all's right for J-boy. Missed seeing Holly Black last weekend, but at least we get to see our pal Kiya Heartwood tomorrow.
  19. Big music night at The Green Man Art Studio; lifted the rafters with songs of all kinds.
  20. Sitting in a cafe in Abingdon, VA, to catch up on my email. Rainy day, but driving into town, the hills looked beautiful.
