  10. 4 days into Huaraz-Huanuco on remote road through Huascaran. Trip of a lifetime. Tomorrow, civilisation.
  11. Spoke too soon. Robbed on side trip to Lima. Camera/front pannier gone, luckily I left everything else in Huaraz. Teach me to take the bus!
  12. Swapping my cycling shoes for crampons to climb Nevado Pisco out of Huaraz. Should take 2 days to reach the 5,752m summit.

  14. BREAKING NEWS: Replacement rim has arrived, and rear wheel being re-built as I write. Should be back on the move tomorrow. Woohoo!
  15. Slight technical hitch. Rear rim shot to pieces. Stranded in Trujillo until a new rim is sent up from Lima and wheel can be rebuilt. Hmmm...
  16. Just run the gauntlet of the notorious Paijan-Chocope road - and survived! Am about to go celebrate in sunny Trujillo.
  17. It's been quite a week. Have made it to Olmos, should get my first glimpse of the Pacific tomorrow.
  18. Yowzer! It's hot here in Jaen! Going to make for the coast from here to make up lost time. Now I've decided can't wait for some flat roads!
  19. 4 days of the toughest cycling yet gets me into Peru, 3 months to the day since leaving Caracas. Just got the map out - it's a big country!
