  1. £3 for Union and Choc-Soc Members, £5 for Non-Members. cus.org/chocolate-and-…
  2. Choc soc & the Union bring you chocolate & massages. Monday 8pm. Indulge in the food of the gods and chill out by getting a massage.
  3. Need a morning break from studying? Come to the Union at 11am today for our popular meditation class. It really does wonders!
  4. We're now in exam-mode: next debate on 14 June but weekly ents continue throughout: yoga, zumba, meditation, chocolate & massages...
  5. Voting will be announced in the bar shortly...
  6. DA: [In response to a POI] If there was one instance of racism in this debate, it did not come from this side.
  7. DA: There is a critical problem we have beyond anecdotes. As a society, empirically, we are no longer racist as a whole.
  8. 4th Opp, David Aaronovitch: We've moved far, far on from gollywogs, "Little Black Sambo" and "The Black and White Minstrel Show"
  9. HR: If I made the same speech in South Africa, they would deny racism but you would know that it exists. It is the same here.
  10. HR: Many of us are suffering from the slave mentality. We are unable to succeed because we are suffering from this mentality.
  11. HR: [To Ismael] You remind of slave times. Then we had field negroes and house negroes. You remind me of a house negro, close to his master.
  12. HR: Racism is a system of protection for the status quo. Nothing I say will change the institutions in this country.
  13. HR: One of the things racism does: it institutionally belittles black history. No mention of blacks before slavery in history class.
  14. 4th Prop, Hughie Rose: For too long people don't want to talk about racism. We want to slide it under the carpet.
  15. POI Opp: At too young an age people are "branded". There are elements that cannot be ignored that Britain is still slightly racist.
  16. POI Opp: I was with a choir singing muslim songs in Austria where there were audible gasps at the announcement. Britain is better.
  17. POI Prop: A vote for the opposition is a vote for the drive to the bottom. "We should be glad we're not as bad as other countries in Europe"
  18. POI Abst: We need to look at centuries of history to learn from our mistakes.
  19. POI Opp: When I read about the "Black Panther Party", these seem like vestiges of things no longer needed.
