  1. fest retros often distort real cinema history. Delightfully "The Inner Palace Conspiracy" (1951) @tokyofilmex was like a fun RKO potboiler.
  2. @lyndenbarber either you're not reading my tweets Lynden or you're trying to get me to say something that you believe will make a story
  3. fighting exhaustion caught original "An Actor's Revenge" (1935) @tokyofilmex. Still prefer Ichikawa's (1963) take, but damn good regardless.
  4. #followmeJP and I'll put up a twitpic of me with japanese singer ai at the APSA afterparty
  5. hey I know it's not all happening now, but I want to share it anyway
  6. On bus with APSA guests to Bris airport. Sit next to Sion Sono. He sleeps, hat on lap, but hand underneath the hat. Too much Love Exposure?
  7. @ Brisbane & Narita airports looking after Breathless' director Yang Ik-jun by giving directions, waking him up & completing customs forms
  8. read tiny report re: APSA in SMH on plane. On smh.com.au - nothing - but a full list of winners of last week's Oz IF (iffy) awards. idiots!
  9. back in Japan eating red bean onigiri & fried chicken with chopsticks. Was I really on APSA/CNN stage on the Gold Coast a mere 24 hours ago?
  10. @lyndenbarber still I agree it wouldve looked better if there was only 1 Oz person. Pike is honest & Aden Young was a potential wild card.
  11. @lyndenbarber as I said days ago Lynden, it wouldn't matter if the jury was from Mars, S&D was a virtual shoe-in to an intelligent jury.
  12. @jgtokyo Hai!
  13. Warwick Thornton's acceptance speech which linked language diversity, indigenous cultures and climate change was a corker!
  14. @jgtokyo old japanese saying: Speech is like a woman's skirt; shorter is better. A few platitudes about APSA etc
  15. But of course you can never tell with juries - they do the most ludicrous thimgs sometimes. Not in this case i think.
  16. City of Life and Death and About Elly were the other two big winners. Seemed obvious to me since day 1 of Noms deliberation.
  17. Feeling vindicated by the APSA jury's decisions - with ony a couple of exceptions. Samson & Delilah - as I predicted - was best film.
  18. After party closed down at 2.30. I'm leaving the hotel at 4.45am. What the hell am I going to do between now and then? Tweet of course!
  19. APSA ceremony goes off p0retty well, though I heard from japan that there was problems with CNN/APSA weblink. Can anyone verify?
  20. swimming with tropical fish in the Surfers Paradise Marriott while killing time before APSA awards
