  2. Symbian & Maemo's platform-specific UI frameworks - stop the madness http://ff.im/-cZkq2 (via @OscarB)
  3. Finding all this talk of snow (a few flakes) in London very amusing from a Canadian perspective. :)
  4. @millarm is there a post at that URL? Only title and comments for me. Isn't Google less-than-free is many cases? How does Nokia compete?
  5. @doriantaylor brilliant - thanks!
  6. @doriantaylor no, I don't believe I have. Link?
  7. @doriantaylor hmm... I'm very interested in hearing more about your process - if you care to share.
  8. @doriantaylor do you see quantative analysis being used more for rationale? Numbers can easily be skewed to present other viewpoints.
  9. @doriantaylor one can only hope. Sadly, I expect jargon and BS to evolve to enable designers to further confuse the client.
  10. @doriantaylor design typically requires a "why" from clients, hence many good designers are also good storytellers.
  11. @doriantaylor artists are often asked to provide a "why" - many admit they rattle on some BS as rationale only for press or customers.
  12. How Mobile Cell Phones Change Everything When *We* Do: from laptops to smartphones: http://bit.ly/6rbpQ0 (via @ewanmcintosh @MickLandmann)
  13. Is UCD to designers what objectivity is to journalists? Well intentioned but impractical? http://bit.ly/8JYzAR (via @MarkUry)
  14. Evening of okinomiyaki, sake and great conversation - more please! :)
  15. nice comparison of rhodes and phonegap by @vgraupera http://bit.ly/8BzkVo (via @ultrasaurus)

  17. @fj imagine if Nokia SDKs (and devices) were named like Ikea furniture - Ingkslaoord, Dru, Ivar... I guess Maemo is getting close. ;)
  18. @millarm a VMWare image would be so helpful. Apple's Dev Tools aren't bad, but I'm very impressed with Palm's Web OS SDK+vm!
  19. @fj it's been a few years, but I remember them a little less fondly and seem to recall the always require a blood sacrifice... ;)
  20. Setting up a Nokia dev environment is very much like assembling Ikea furniture - it's all in pieces and the instructions are rubbish.
