  1. Playing with Google Wave. Weird.
  2. Went to Bull Creek Pk on mission to find American Smoketree. Lat/long was spot on, so found them pretty easily, but it was a steep scramble.
  3. Up early having tea. Going out to do invasive plant mapping this morning. Foggy!
  4. Just had a wholegrain shortbread from @fullenglishfood with my afternoon tea. Didn't know what to expect with wholegrain, but it rocked!
  5. A Great Horned Owl is calling nearby! "hoo-h'HOO--hoo-hoo."
  6. Thousands of Snout butterflies flying across Austin again today.
  7. Ken Burns documentary, "National Parks: America's Best Idea" premiers this Sunday evening on PBS. What's your favorite park? (via @TPWDnews)
  8. Up early drinking tea. Looking forward to birding field trip at the Balcones Canyonland National Wildlife Refuge.
  9. Nice morning bird walk led by @mikaelb: Summer Tanager + 4 warblers, Am. Redstart, Wilson's, Yellow, Mourning. And *saw* White-eyed Vireo!
  10. Up early for NASWC bird walk. Hope to see some fall migrants.
  11. According to hydromet.lcra.org, got about 1/4 in. of rain near my house tonight. I'll take it, especially since I can't water again til Sat.
  12. Back from Big Bend Hummingbird trip. The birds, plants, geology and company were all fabulous. The speeding ticket on I-10, not so much.
  13. @EntoMike Mike, no, haven't heard Giant Cicada out here this weekend.
  14. In Christmas Mtns today: Lucifer Hummingbird, Gambel's Quail, Pyrrhuloxia, Scaled Quail and Prairie Falcon.
  15. Some good Trans-Pecos birds today: Cactus Wren, Long-billed Thrasher, Zone-tailed Hawk, Black-headed Grosbeak, Acorn Woodpecker.
  16. Davis Mtns hummingbirds today: Calliope, Broad-billed, Broad-tailed, Rufous, Black-chinned. Fabulous day!
  17. Mark Klym is warning we may encounter rattlesnakes. Cool!

  19. Having a quick picnic at rest stop outside Sonora. Clear sky and a nice breeze. Seeing lots of migrating dragonflies.
  20. Back from TX Amphibian Watch at Riata Pond. Only heard one lonesome Bullfrog. But saw lots of bats! Then beers and pizza at B. B. Rovers.
