  1. Metrics gone bad; in the Vietnam war, soldiers shot civilians just so they could make their "enemy body count" target.
  2. Dozens of BI tools and data warehouses, political and ownership issues; integration is easy in theory, hard in practice. Any good articles?
  3. Incredibly busy at the moment.... which is good.
  4. A short comic on the use of Excel/Access by marketing people, sounds like a company I used to work at: http://bit.ly/17FDrF
  5. In which scenario would you favor Sharepoint over a pure-play BPMS offering?
  6. @cmooreforrester I suspected as much. I see organizations choosing SP over pure-play BPMS and wonder if there's more than just costs.
  7. Just curious, how does Sharepoint measure up to pure-play BPM offerings? I can imagine that SP may be more basic. Any success stories?
  8. RT @timoelliott Essential tools for a Web 2.0 presenter? http://bit.ly/QvLcI - Cool, but can also lead to some very embarrassing moments ;)
  9. RT @ocdqblog Latest @dataqualitypro feature: "7 Essential Skills for Effective Data Quality Leaders" - http://bit.ly/nU7k5 <- Interesting!
  10. Penny-wise, pound-foolish; hire expensive analysts and then give them obsolete computers that have them sitting idle every 5 minutes. #fail
  11. Highly unscientific poll suggests poor data quality accounts for up to 10% of total costs, what's your take? http://bit.ly/biknwldg #dq
  12. Looking for some good articles on BI product selection pitfalls. Anyone have any suggestions? #businessintelligence #softwareselection
  13. Looking at QlikView 9's XML exports, could there be a market for a tool that ports the whole thing (insofar possible) to Excel/Gemini?
  14. @Frothe0921 Thanks for the tip. I wouldn't associate Cognos TM1 (in-memory OLAP) with metadata management, so will have to take a look.
  15. Curious to hear what other people are using to define and store their meta data.
  16. New, highly unscientific poll at http://www.bi-knowledgebase... : How much is poor data quality costing your company?
  17. Anyone have any experience with metadata management projects on the cheap?
  18. Funny visualization of differences in perception about Linux, Windows and Mac http://bit.ly/QjvMD
  19. Blocking anyone who sends me one of those annoying "Mafia family" direct messages.
  20. Back after two weeks of holiday, had a great time scuba diving in the Red Sea.
