  1. @nicksellen Looks like there are enough people willing to take the deal at the moment, so they don't need to start a price war. :-(
  2. @emmersons Which bit is scary? The tools that some Bad People use, or the fact the internet is being rebuilt for automated surveillance?
  3. @nicksellen And they allow less data transfer. Still, at least you didn't have to suffer the O2 network.
  4. RT @alexbellinger: When I'm rich and famous, the first thing I want is a world class sysadmin.
  5. Today I have mostly been fed up with PDFs - about the only thing which seems to handle them well is OS X when you have odd colour models.
  6. @alexbellinger Tweetmeme server looks like it's up, but DNS isn't working. http://89.151.116.55/
  7. Tip for bot writers: Forging a browser user agent string works better when not in all caps. Or is FIREFOX a browser for the hard of hearing?
  8. I have accidently discovered that Facebook is the number one hit in Google for 'www'. I do not like what this implies. http://is.gd/52zm9
  9. @chrisridd Good theory, but I didn't initiate this installer. VMware did. This is what happens when we give up our command lines.
  10. Yes, Windows Installer, an update on progress is so important that you should pop up your window over my work every 2 seconds.
  11. Whenever I encounter Windows, I always get the feeling that it's the way it is for someone else's convenience.
  12. @martinkl I'm sure similar things are possible with OSes other than Solaris. It's just it's easy with Solaris.
  13. Turns out that not many people are interested in using SMF for privilege separation on Solaris. :-( http://bens.me.uk/s19
  14. @alaric Maybe you'll be forced to use Win7 as a very fat hypervisor for UNIX VMs?
  15. Dilbert has gone too far today. There are some things which shouldn't be mocked. http://www.dilbert.com/fast...
  16. Speaking of SMF, I wonder what was the patient zero for the very common incorrect use of SMF_EXIT_ERR in example scripts? http://is.gd/51V8k
  17. @ceri They should have done Desktop as a Service years ago. Sunrays are very cool devices!
  18. On my blog: Web app security - controlling untrusted processes with Solaris SMF http://bens.me.uk/s19
  19. @chrisridd The contents will be ignored even if the address isn't. The only evidence they like is of people agreeing with them.
  20. Trouble with writing to MP to complain: Where to start, how to avoid "and (yet) another thing". Also, knowing it'll be ignored.
