  2. Four hours of yard work. (Think we're done for the year.) Now it's time to chill, figuratively and musically.
  3. The Plaza for lunch. You never outgrow your need for secret sauce. Watched most of the 2nd quarter of Badger game. More pressure, defense!
  4. I need to figure out what to do while Jo gets her hair done. (How about finding a place to watch the Badger game?)
  5. Genealogy Jo & I are off to the State Historical Society library.
  6. Jo & I are watching Law & Order for 1st time this season, eating wings, sipping red wine, & waiting for Costco Margherita pizza to bake.
  7. The Mentalist. Simon Baker. The new Alfie. What's it all about? Speaking of which, what's Dionne Warwick(e) doing nowadays.
  8. Great turnout at Jon Erpenbach's fundraiser at Village Green.
  9. Congratulations to Peter and Ann Hamon, recipients of the Cornerstone Award from the SCLS Foundation this evening. Nearly 100 at reception.
  10. Short stories. Faulkner's "Two Soldiers" and "A Rose for Emily" provided very welcome company to and from Portage today. (Last day!)
  11. Bedtime already? The Retiring Guy cookie blogpost will have to wait until tomorrow. Retiring.
  12. Short stories. Based on the evidence -- "Barn Burning", "Shingles for the Lord", "The Tall Men" -- William Faulkner is no Flannery O'Connor.
  13. Transition day at the Portage Public Library.
  14. Jo & I are heading to Beloit for Sunday dinner with Mim and Tom, Carolyn and Jim. A Nelson cousins' mini-reunion.

  16. Great day for a ponds walk. (Tiedeman and Stricker)
  17. Raking leaves, mowing the lawn on a beachworthy November afternoon.
  18. If you're planning to see Men Who Stare at Goats this weekend, check listings for alternatives. But then again, JoAnna liked the movie.
