  1. @theseantcollins "-ular" just doesn't work very well as a rhyme, sadly.
  2. Almost done with first postdoc app of the day. Went with the "revising the diss" project this time, because it matches the description more
  3. @alex_segura We can always have a repeat performance later!
  4. @damiella Get off my lawn, with your rock n roll!
  5. @alex_segura I just played 30 seconds of it and had to stop. Much confusion on Maybellene & KB's part. Lucy hid.
  6. @theseantcollins New York, London, Paris, Munich Everybody talk about pop music.
  7. @DannFreeman I do, of course. But that's after they've all signed up--and some just tune out the "related genres," such as soul or folk.
  8. @captain_primate And they are often considered separate within popular music studies--"rock" is often juxtaposed with "pop," post-1964.
  9. @captain_primate They aren't for me. They often are for the students who sign up, who get angry or tune out when I cover "related genres."
  10. The difference between the two is the expectations of subject matter--most students expect the former to be about dudes with guitars.
  11. Sometimes the fact that I'm teaching the "History of Rock n Roll" really bugs me. Why not "History of Popular Music"?
  12. @jerseygemini Oh, he would never do that! He knows it would break my heart.
  13. Last night I made fresh cranberry sauce and baked coconut custard and blueberry pies. Now I'm done with my Thanksgiving duties a day early.
  14. @tylerbickford Fantastic! That was a great paper!
  15. I willingly read drafts of student papers. But not the day the paper is due. Gah.
  16. @personaltxr Ay yi yi! I wish her the best of luck--I can't even fathom doing that kind of schedule.
  17. I am exceedingly happy to teach three classes in the spring. With four classes + research, I never reach the bottom of the stack of papers.
  18. @tylerbickford Congratulations on your SEM prize! Or is it prizes? Hard to tell via Twitter hashtags--but congrats, again!
  19. @Nightwyrm Well, for one, there's gravy.--not a gloppy gravy, nor an au jus, but somewhere between. It's dressed w/lettuce, tomato, mayo.
  20. @alex_segura Apparently, it's just a cold! So if KB has it, it'll go away soon. Maybe is already on the mend.
