@ I'd suggest jpgs where possible and placing pngs in <img> tags. I am a fan of "Not identical, but still looks good" for ie6

@ The png fix is ideal for major images. It will adjust background images usually but render links and text over it unclickable.

@ shot in the dark, is that image a background image of the element with css? If so, just place it as an <img> tag.

@ If you have any analytics for the site look at them. IE6 sucks, but if 40% of her visitors are using it, then it's required.

@ Browsers will do obnoxious caching when you're CSS'ing a lot. Firefox (CMD+SHIFT+R = force reload) the rest need restarts
