@ 4/8 is kinda the minimum for running VMs unless you like running 1 VM with only 512MB RAM assigned.

@ I've found Windows 7 to be more aggressive with caching, it can fill 3-4GB of RAM with cached apps to speed things up.

@ Windows 7 and Linux 2.6.31 scale to the amount of RAM present, cache more thing in memory the longer they run.
