  1. @Husaria I agree, but I don't believe most people do it deliberately. Usually I find they don't know or can't express what they really want.
  2. Had a great Saturday today, and hardly thought about IT or business at all - first day in a long time!
  3. "Men build too many walls and not enough bridges" - Isaac Newton
  4. Discussions over the last 24 hrs have underlined that ERPs are just too complex for people to use effectively. A big problem with packages.
  5. @MayurSK Mayur, for me an MIS is a system which covers all aspects of a business, both operational and management. Is that your definition?
  6. Have established that there ARE ways to assess the long term benefits of IT to a business, but we have to think outside the square to do it
  7. @MayurSK I will if I can. What sort of help do you need?
  8. @peaz It's not easy, is it. I believe there are ways to measure longer term benefits, but they still take imagination and guesswork.
  9. @arulnick Thanks, and yes, it does look good. A lot better than the one we had to work with!
  10. Looking at the long term benefits of IT for a client. Hard to calculate because business would be totally different without IT.
  11. @arulnick It's a locally developed ERP which isn't widely used. Problem was probably with client's support group who didn't realise....
  12. Have hit an issue with a client where we did a great systems integration job, but seems a package has now been changed without warning. Mmm
  13. @KlasO In fact we only reached 18C today - everyone here is back in woolly sweaters again!
  14. @KlasO Sounds like you too are getting global warming! Your 8C sounds better than our 42C yesterday - but least we're back to 21C today.
  15. Travelled to and from Sydney with my wife today - weather was dreadful, 42C and strong winds, but fortunately no sign of fires in our area
  16. Canberra has been sweltering these last few days. So it was a relief to only have 30C today!
  17. It's great to have a career which helps others. A career in IT can certainly be like that.
  18. "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested" - Francis Bacon
  19. Happily writing again today. Text of book is just about finished, now needs disgrams etc....
  20. After much pain have nearly finished writing a book on Practical IT Strategic Planning. Have lots of planning experience and book looks good
