@ One leads to the other. That's why it was good to teach kids the Baltimore Catechism. Solid foundation for later learning.

@ If that wasn't your point, then why bring up intelligence to defend your proposition that Lincoln established a secular Thksgvng?

@ U argued that Thksgvng procs mentioned God to please the masses. Your proof is that leaders are smart & smart people are atheists.

@ Again, your proof that the presidents of the US were godless people who spoke in religious terms to placate the masses is...?

@ Even if true, you have no proof that our past presidents weren't religious. You're just making prejudiced assumptions.

@ Are you really saying that all the presidents have all been a bunch of hypocrites who just say things to maintain power?

@ So every president from George Washington on was really just placating the masses by mentioning God at Thanksgiving?

@ But all of them have been montheistically religious except for this year and you said that Lincoln's proclamation was secular.

I am amazed how many atheists want to deny that Thanksgiving was established for religious reasons. They don't read the proclamations.

@ You mean this Lincoln? 'day of thanksgiving & praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens'
1:11 PM Nov 27th

-
@ You can't quote the proclamation in isolation. You have to read the whole thing which does say that we are giving thanks to God.
