  1. What do you want people to say about you when you're gone? Every day you don't live into that goal is a day spent living the wrong life.
  2. Be married to what you do, not to what you've done.
  3. Developers forget that problem solving is wildly creative. Don't. Sometimes the best solution is the creation of something that needs to be.
  4. The novice cannot win some games by the rules and considers cheating. A master changes the game and never breaks the rules. Masters win.
  5. A Novice wants to know all that can be known. A Professional knows what he does not know. The master knows whether or not to know something.
  6. When facing a problem and you think to yourself "man, this sure is a complex". Stop. You're probably overlooking something simple.
  7. Everything you do should come from a place of caring about the people around you. We do not engage in office politics, we just give a damn.
  8. UX should work from the end inward and dev from the start outward. It's how we move forward in focused logical steps towards a clear goal.
  9. Crying, like laughing, has a purpose. Never discourage it in yourself or others. Sometimes you can't fix the cause so just comfort & accept.
  10. @pjadavies @iandstewart that's hilarious. I only tweet when I have something worth saying. Usually at someone else's encouragement.
  11. Be there for one another. Be strong when the other is weak. Be sure when the other doubts. It's thus that we conquer. youtube.com/watch?v=g9hMLn…
  12. Each step makes sense as the only way the body can do what it must. There's no better parallel to writing code than how reproduction works.
  13. Remember to occasionally try things again that you failed to do in the past. Time, wisdom, and experience make easier what, once, was hard.
  14. It is better to say something unneeded than to have not said something important.
  15. When in doubt. Over communicate.
  16. Being wrong is not a bad thing. It means there's one less thing you can try before being right. Being wrong and giving up... is a bad thing.
  17. When in doubt check the assumptions on which you base your assumptions. Poisoned roots sprout no leaves. When the problem speaks... Listen.
  18. When searching for problems in code and in life remember to look up and down. Floor, ceiling, call stack. All places we forget to look. Do.
  19. Ignoring a problem is rarely the answer. A wise man takes the first step quickly, disarming the problem, lest a mole hill become a mountain.
  20. Sometimes the problem IS the network. Just don't let it go to your head when it is. Next time it probably won't be :)
