  1. @AmberStrocel The elves like to kick back and walk around in bare feet.
  2. @MBels I couldn't quite understand what Gwen was talking about when she described the preview to me. I just saw one on TV. Speechless.
  3. zOMG, they've turned Sherlock Holmes into an explosion-filled action piece. RD Jr cannot possibly save this film.
  4. @Nicole013 Un-huh. If you can open it, she will too. Just a question of how soon. Heck, even if you can't open it she'll figure it out!
  5. @Nicole013 Keep a camera nearby; that'll be Youtube material for sure.
  6. @Nicole013 As long as you get plastic bottles. Or boxes. They'll make quite a mess when the poptart pulls 'em out of wine rack. Just sayin'
  7. @Nicole013 Investing in a portable high-power electromagnet is also a consideration...
  8. @Nicole013 You've bought the leg-irons, right?
  9. @moneycoach I have an EeePC 901 I'm happy with, but the battery is already rather degraded after 1 yr. Dunno if this is a specific problem
  10. @Stv Yup, full-scale explicit time-stepping finite-element modelling of very large things.
  11. @JonJennings This is definitely something we re-evaluate every once and a while since these long runs cost us more than the hardware.
  12. @JonJennings The problem is that beyond a certain point, we do not scale with additional nodes due to the nature of the problem.
  13. @JonJennings Well, I misspoke earlier. OK, I was wrong. They're actually many CPU boxes (4-8 CPU) clustered to form massive clusters.
  14. @JonJennings And that hardware ain't cheap
  15. @JonJennings Jon, the calcs we are doing often run for many days on massively parallel (64+ CPU) boxes. Performance matters a great deal.
  16. @ingridmorse We've been very happy with the Red Crow Inn just outside of Tofino http://bit.ly/6Zsz7w
  17. @SlvrLambStudios oooh. I'd think the cornerstone of a photog biz would be redundant backup. One at house, one offsite, preferably in cloud!
  18. @jonjennings Oops crossed wires. Joking about what? Python + Fortran? Nope, that's my reality. Thx for link to pkg of Eclipse? No joke, thx!
  19. @sarahsodyssey Re: VanSun: Entertainment as news / news as entertainment. Re: Muppets: Universal appeal. In end prob can't read much into it
  20. @sarahsodyssey Related: What does that say about the Vancouver Sun? Also, what does that say about the Muppets?
