  11. @thefoodgeek Got rid of the smell with apple cider vinegar & it still bubbles when I feed it... I think maybe I just need to start over.
  12. @thefoodgeek It half-froze the culture & since then, has smelled really bad. I've been trying to nurse it back to health since.
  13. @thefoodgeek Yep, the culture is about 4 months old & has made many fine loafs. Problems started a few weeks ago when my fridge died.
  14. Still tangy from the apple cidar vinegar. Weird since I fed it every day, dumping 2/3 of the starter. It's improved greatly since last loaf.
  15. The good: my sourdough loaf tastes ok. The bad: it's dense & chewy & took 2x as long as it should have to bake. Must be too much flour.
  16. I have to let the dough rise another 5-6 hours before baking...
  17. Just put my sourdough loaf into DIY proofing box (cardboard box w/ garbage bag overtop). Dough has a tangy sweet taste. Not sure I like it.

  20. @PhilaFoodie We compared the 2004 (excellent weather) to 2005 (summer drought). Big diffs- 2004 was fuller & better structured. Go with 04!
