  1. Horrific. From Binging, it seems issue is most pronounced with ThinkPads.
  2. Nasty, nasty part of this is that this Intel Turbo Memory driver issue is intermittent, can strike at any time, and then never go away.
  3. (4) re-install drive (5) reboot
  4. My machine now boots. Short-term sol'n: (1) yank drive (2) mount drive on another PC (3) rename \windows\system32\drivers\iaNvStor.sys
  5. Format complete. Restore re-initiated. CHKDSK will take until Tuesday.
  6. Format's at 95%. Ooh ahh.
  7. Format's at 18% and chkdsk is at what looks to be 15%. Time to unpack PDC suitcase. Woe is me.
  8. OK. Running chkdsk on ThinkPad's drive (on my PDC Acer) and formatting new drive on ThinkPad in order to re-attempt WHS restore there. :-s
  9. All those people who started following me after I tweeted PDC keynotes are now regretting it, as they see me Tweet-Whine about my ThinkPad
  10. I bet it's not going to fix anything though. Sort of like pressing that button to get a Walk signal on the corner.
  11. Wow. Win7 Startup Repair has been "Attempting repairs..." for almost as long as WHS took to do the restore.
  12. Everyone remember that old Apple commercial with people ytelling suggestions from teh audience? "Try changing config.sys!"
  13. Somehow, even @edbott felt enough sympathy to throw me a suggestion. And yet.
  14. I have never had so much (remote) moral support during a PC's re-animation before. Thanks all. But I would thank you more if you solved it
  15. I am tempted to throw in a spare hard drive and restore to that one instead.
  16. @devhammer Oh, I suppose anything is possible. But if it's the RAM, then how come the WHS Restore CD starts up no problem?
  17. Trying WIndows "Startup repair" again, almost certainly in vain.
  18. @edbott It passes every frigging RAM test I give it. Makes no sense. It's this iaNavstor.sys driver.
  19. As Yosemite Sam would say: Rassin' Frassin' dirty Drassin'. You doggone Galoote!
  20. And the blue screen is still with us :-(
