  1. @cre8tivkj We have 15 to shear. I am exhausted too. I am fading fast here. Hope a good night's sleep helps. Good luck tomorrow.
  2. @AlpacaFarmgirl Too funny about the TP penny pinching. My huband & I spent a good 10 minutes comparing TP prices today and then bought wine.
  3. All alpacas ready for tomorrow. Our team of shearers have arrived and will spend the night. A great group of young men. Excellent shearers.
  4. @cre8tivkj We need to compare our prep experiences after today & hope we don't have too much cold weather ahead after our pacas loose coats.
  5. @cre8tivkj Blowing out the fleece works better than the vacuum method. Just wear a mask!
  6. @cre8tivkj All of the vegetable matter, hay, poo we pick off by hand. We spend extra time on the alpacas we use for show fleece.
  7. @cre8tivkj We halter them and use a small vacuum that also blows out. Shop vacs work but can be noisy and frightening to the pacas.
  8. @rowebball Many farms bartering and/or trading breedings this year. We are in the process of a breeding trade for one of our girls.
  9. @AlpacaFarmgirl Thanks.Tomorrow we are preparing the pacas for shearing. De-vegetating and blowing out excess dust always a fun day. Cough!
  10. @bareftbeachbaby This year the weather is not perfect for shearing in our area - I think we are relatively close to you. Wet & cold, yuk!
  11. Shearing our alpacas Saturday. Have a fantastic team coming. Gathering shearing paraphernalia. Next task, keep alpacas dry and mud free.
  12. @suzhomefinder Congrats! Did you attend the Indiana show?
  13. @AlpacaSpinner You are inspiring me to attempt spinning one more time. Am looking at boxes of fleece containing past years shearings.
  14. @llamakevin Riding tractor and cutting grass is the best therapy for me, does it help you with processing events of last few days?
  15. @bareftbeachbaby I am so happy to hear how well Isabella is progressing. She certainly was born at a loving farm.
  16. @KhensU Congratulations! A big pat on the back to you and your paca!
  17. @llamakevin We lost our magnificent guard llama a few months ago. One of my older alpaca girls cushed in his favorite pasture spot for days.
  18. @llamakevin She was so young and she held such an important role in the herd, this does magnify the loss. Her herd will need you even more.
  19. @bareftbeachbaby So true. All of my fashion magazines have been replaced with equipment and farm supply catalogs.
  20. @llamakevin So sorry to hear about your loss. They are each so special to us.
