  1. @bbum Also, to put something into the public domain *today*, you have to explicitly say so, otherwise you hold the copyright.
  2. @bbum FWIW, "Public Domain" precludes the existence of a license, which is why you don't remember there being any. There weren't.
  3. @dtm3dd You sound like Ian Richardson (Mr. Book) in Dark City :-)
  4. @fraserspeirs But we all know that BBC Tech journalism sucks. Not only is it inaccurate, but they ignore requests to correct it!
  5. Gosh. Something is wrong with the Universe. I find myself agreeing with Matt Asay http://bit.ly/5EmoB
  6. @mattgemmell I didn't think it was “conditioning” so much as letting the controller know the battery’s characteristics. But usually, yes.
  7. Can we all please use Kbps, Mbps, Gbps for kilo*bits*, mega*bits*, giga*bits* and reserve /s and /sec notation for *byte*-based units?
  8. @ccgus Looks like 6502 asm to me. Been a while, mind :-)
  9. Happy Independence Day to everyone in the United States.
  10. @eschaton …very hard for NHS to say no without politicians, journalists and sometimes the courts getting involved.
  11. @eschaton …*and* there's a huge problem because taxpayers feel entitled to any treatment they need, regardless of cost or efficacy…
  12. @eschaton …we pay way more in taxes for the NHS than it costs for gold plated health insurance in the US…
  13. @eschaton Unfortunately public healthcare has all kinds of problems of its own.
  14. @AndrePang Well, people (who know) also buy them for the industrial design, another thing the PC camp doesn't really do that well.
  15. Big black cloud MIA. Sunshine again :-(
  16. Big black cloud outside. Rain imminent (I hope).
  17. @dtm3dd Yeah, well, that's why we've got that *horrible* dot syntax for properties. Blasted Java programmers :-D
  18. @fraserspeirs Envious. No rain here yet, and I've been ill since Wednesday evening also - the heat and humidity is really not helping.
  19. @danielpunkass I was just about to go read your blog post too…
  20. Wasn't the window cleaners though (was my first thought too) because some of the scratches are on the inside. :-(
