  1. Visualizing the Player's Last Known Position in Splinter Cell Conviction http://bit.ly/11nuo (About game design and AI world models.)
  2. This is probably the last time I review papers for the CIG Conference. Randomly assigning papers isn't much use to reviewer or submitter.
  3. Game AI Conference 2009: Report from Paris with Slides, Photos and Highlights http://bit.ly/OUTC7
  4. The site just moved to another server, apologies for the short downtime.
  5. Real-Time Cameras: Navigation and Occlusion http://bit.ly/wPgyP
  6. Anyone check out Nexuiz? http://bit.ly/ZPZum It's a free open-source FPS. I'm wondering what the code is like; always keen to look inside!
  7. The papers don't claim applicability to the games industry and solve well defined problems, but unfortunately not as interesting for me!
  8. So far, the paper's I've reviewed for CIG (Computational Intelligence and Games) are significantly better quality than those for AIIDE.
  9. If the motivation of a white paper is wrong or misrepresents the state of industry, what are the chances of the rest being useful at all?
  10. Heuristics were first proposed by Claude Shanon in "Programming a computer for playing chess." Philosophical Magazine, 41:256–275, 1950.
  11. What an awesome game; historical and fun to play. http://bit.ly/1vpA9 "Villainous pig filth."
  12. Our Game AI IRC channel is on irc.freenode.net #gameai -- Usually about 15 people during the day, plus AiGameDev.com Sandbox discussions.
  13. The strength of the AI in The Sims 3 is helping players imagine stories about their own games. http://bit.ly/15Y6aK It's a breakthrough!
  14. Looking into the build script that manages the premium video content and trying to figure out a way to generate iPod friendly versions.
  15. Thanks for all your comments also; it really was "world class" and did indeed "raise the bar" for such events -- regardless of price. :-)
  16. Almost recovered from organizing our Paris Game AI Conference a few days ago. It was great meeting everyone personally and the talks rocked.
  17. @JurieOnGames From reading the blog post, "Asymetrical" seems a better title than "Imbalanced." Your comment addressed a different issue.
  18. Putting the last touches on my talk (and more screenshots) about the Killzone 2 Bot Strategy AI for our Game AI Conference next week.
  19. @MrValdez I wouldn't replace the whole AI, just make a few fixes to give the bots a bit more initiative at times, closer to online play.
  20. Can't wait for a potential Left 4 Dead SDK that would allow me to replace the bots' AI. I'd happily pay for that along with L4D2 maybe? :-)
