  1. A few scary moments as the ice jammed above Circle but, looks like things are better now. Boat landing in Eagle not clear yet but, soon. ps
  2. The Yukon River ice broke yesterday. First a little jam in front of Eagle and then all the ice moved around 4:30 pm. No flooding, whew! ps
  3. What an absolutely gorgeous day! Ice still holding on the Yukon. The geese are wondering when it will break and so are we! Happy Spring! ps
  4. An absolutely gogeous day. +1 F sun is shining. Who could ask for more. Ice thick in Yukon so, hope for slow melting and no floods. ps
  5. +26 at 8:30pm. Too hot at Slavens. Mushers can expect -10 from Circle to the 40 mile cabin. Strange... ps
  6. The rest of the staff head out tomorrow. We expect lots of mushers to rest longer at Slaven's this year because of trail conditions. ps
  7. All geared up for the Yukon Quest. Two NPS snowmachines headed for Slaven's tomorrow. Crew headed out to Slaven's on Saturday. Fun ahead. ps
  8. Too cold for snowmachines today but, great for dogmushing. What a site the moonrise was. Starting to prepare lists for the Yukon Quest.ps
  9. Finally, winter is here! -34 this morning. Bumpy trail on the Yukon River but dog teams and snowmachines are running on it. Stay safe! ps
  10. Still crazy! It is +18 and really should be at least in the low -20's. I guess we had best enjoy it while it is here cause it won't last! ps
  11. Hard to believe but it is +21. The Yukon is frozen with a really bumpy trail but, runnable with snowmachine and dogsled. Fun day to run. ps
  12. The Yukon River froze and stopped on Friday and today, brave folks were out chopping a trail across to use dog sleds. Even a snowmachine! ps
  13. -18 this morning but, the Yukon has decided to build up ice on the side banks and the flowing ice is lessening. Strange, strange. ps
  14. Very strange but, the ice in the Yukon has thinned in volume. Water has dropped. Snowing now and +14. It could be a strange freeze up. ps
  15. -18 morning! Lots of ice flowing in the river but, not safe to be out there yet! Winter is on the way. Warmer clothes now for sure! ps
  16. First snow of the season last night. About 1 inch. A bald Eagle on the island yesterday. He had best head south! Winter is coming! ps
  17. Can you believe the trees are trying to change colors? What happened to summer? Young raptors are giving the ducks fits! Nature is great! ps
  18. Water on the Yukon is high, high, high and has been all summer. No fires though so, that is great! Lots of rain, very little sun. ps
  19. Well, good grief, Twitter wouldn't let us tweet until now. Lots has happened. Peregrines are almost grown and ready to fly! ps
  20. Peregrine Falcons are in the eyrie on Eagle Bluff! Hooray, you can see them through the scope. She is laying eggs! Live feed soon! ps
