  1. Delicate hoarfrost this morning along some of the low lying paths near the ponds.
  2. Witch hazel is in flower near Enchanted Woods. Fragrant yellow flowers along with butter yellow fall color.
  3. Autumn fruits! Beautyberry, deciduous holly, hardy orange, Idesia, and persimmon are in fruit. Hardy camellias and tea olive are in flower.
  4. Tea olive in flower as you turn the corner into the Greenhouse Area - incredible fragrance!
  5. Japanese anemone, hardy begonia, white wood aster, autumn crocus, and white snakeroot all in full flower right now.
  6. Colchicum starting to dot Oak Hill with magenta flowers.
  7. White wood aster and native blue lobelia light up the shade along the path to the Quarry Garden.
  8. Japanese anemones and Heuchera are in flower near the Quarry Garden.
  9. Mini-sunflowers blooming in the children's vegetable garden, along with cosmos and multi-colored zinnias.
  10. Hosta flowers! Lightly fragrant and in shades of white and lavender.
  11. The long drifts of Queen Anne's Lace in flower throughout our meadows look luminous at dusk.
  12. Lycoris, or surprise lily, are in bloom with pink flowers on long stalks in the March Bank.
  13. The vegetables and flowers planted by the children in our kids gardening program are looking lush and cheery with all this great weather.
  14. Different shades-pale orange to red-of milkweed are in flower in our meadows near Sycamore Hill, Brown's Woods, and East Barn.
  15. Golden rain tree has come into bloom, with its yield-sign-yellow flowers.
  16. Hydrangeas are a "must see" near Old Gatehouse Road.
  17. Wild hydrangea, Hydrangea arborescens, is loving this rain! Their loose, almost fluffy, white flowers light up the shade.
  18. The rich yellow flowers of Lilium hansonii are out along the path in Enchanted Woods.
  19. Hydrangeas are starting to come into flower in Enchanted Woods and near Old Gatehouse Rd. by the Cottage.
  20. With temperatures climbing, ferns in the shade are a welcome respite. Enjoy them in the woods near the Pavilion and March Bank.
