Who wants a fast and cheap divorce? Do you hire the fastest and cheapest heart surgeon?
Arguments often don't help the client's case and achieve the client's goals.
Think--how many arguments in the marriage? Thousands. How many of those changed someone's mind? Probably two or three.
Need to shed this idea: argument=advocacy. Advocacy need not include arguments.
We lawyers tend to think of an outcome as what the judge would probably decide...but that may not work for the parties.
One unique aspect of collaborative law: the clients control the outcome--the lawyers' vision of the outcome is irrelevant
